The New England Archivists Spring 2016 Meeting program committee has organized two special events for the meeting in Portland, Maine on April 1-2. Saturday February 20th is last day to sign-up to be one of the participants in these events:

    FRIDAY APRIL 1: STORYSLAM

Know a good story? Sign-up to participate in Moths in the Archives: Stories from the Stacks -- NEA's first archives StorySLAM. Based on the StorySLAM competitions developed by NYC non-profit literary society The Moth, there are only four groundrules to the NEA competition at the Spring 2016 Meeting:
-- First rule is all stories must be true
-- Second rule is all stories must be told, not read.
-- Third rule is there is a 5-minute time limit.
-- And fourth rule is to keep it anonymous -- don't betray confidentiality restrictions

And at the end of the evening, scores will be tallied, a winner announced, and a PRIZE awarded. Use this form to submit an outline of your story for the NEA competition. Questions? Contact Matt Spry (sprymatt@gmail.com) for more information.

SATURDAY APRIL 2: HOME MOVIE DAY

NEA members or any archival repository in the New England region are invited to participate in NEA's Home Movie Day screening and discussion led by Liz Coffey, Film Conservator at Harvard Film Archive. Formats accepted: 8mm, super 8, super 8 sound, 16mm, VHS, DVD, and digital files (playable via laptop). Please note: all films will be handled by archivists and returned with care.

If you wish to submit a film or video for this unique event, please complete a submission form for consideration. Any questions, contact John Campopiano (jcampopiano@gmail.com).

Since our previous announcement this past week about Portland and the Spring 2016 Meeting, we've had so many reservations at The Inn By the Bay Hotel and Convention Center, we've almost filled our entire room block! While that is great news for the Spring 2016 Meeting, it does make things more limited.

Standard double rooms at the $125 rate on Friday, 4/1, have sold out, but standard king rooms at $135 and executive double rooms at $145 are still available. Call 1-800-345-5050 and reference the NEA Meeting to reserve a room at these new rates.

    See you in Portland!
