New England Archivists is committed to providing leadership and support around advocacy issues to archivists and archives in the region. Advocacy efforts undertaken by NEA may include:
Releasing statements or calls to action on timely advocacy issues
Informing and educating policy makers
Collaborating with allied organizations
Facilitating learning opportunities for archivists around advocacy
Organizing Day-Of-Service events to benefit organizations in need
Forward requests to the Regional Archival Associations Consortium for further support
To request assistance from NEA on an advocacy issue related to your organization or the profession at large, please email your request to the Advocacy Point Person (contact information below). Your request should briefly outline the issue at hand, describe the organization(s) impacted, and offer some suggestions for how NEA can help. Once your request is received, the Advocacy Point Person will forward the request to the NEA board for discussion, at which point the board will decide what, if any, action will be taken. The Advocacy Point Person will follow up with the requester with information about the board’s decision.
Send requests and any questions you have to the Advocacy Point Person: Christina Prochilo Representative-at-large, cprochilo@historicnewengland.org
