Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies Reading Group

Dr, Donald Force, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee
Free Event | Thursdayday, August 1, 2024, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join the New England Archivists for an engaging discussion on critical archival practices as we delve into Donald Force and Bradley Wiles’ thought-provoking article, “Quietly Incomplete”: Academic Historians, Digital Archival Collections, and Historical Research in the Web Era,” published in the Journal for Contemporary Archival Studies.

Through the lens of this article, we will examine the intended goals of creating and posting digital collections and assess whether these objectives are being met. This is an excellent opportunity for attendees to share their experiences with presenting digital collections, discuss what strategies have been successful, identify challenges, and express their wishes for how digital repositories could better serve various types of users.

Attendees are encouraged to participate in an open discussion, where they can gain deeper insights from Donald Force about his research, pose questions to the group, and collaborate on how these discussions can reflect and inform their own work.

Don’t miss this chance to connect, learn, and contribute to the evolving field of archival practice.

The article can be downloaded for free at this link: https://elischolar.library.yale.edu/jcas/vol8/iss1/18/

This event will not be recorded so please plan to attend live.
