From Idea to Awesome: A presentation and Workshop Bootcamp

Instructor  | Jennifer Koerber, Writer and Self Employed Trainer

THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2019

The leadership of New England Archivists (NEA) is closely monitoring the ongoing coronavirus developments and their implications for the Spring 2020 Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island. The health, safety, and well-being of our community are our top priorities. At this time, the physical meeting in Rhode Island cannot proceed as planned. The leadership is considering all of NEA’s options and is working to determine the best course of action, including all digital and physical (later date) alternatives. See the full statement.

Have you ever thought about proposing training for NEA or your own institution but weren’t sure how to turn an idea into a workshop or presentation? In this session, you’ll go through the entire process of developing and presenting the first three minutes of a full-day workshop. Starting with an existing idea or choosing from the Inspiration Box, you’ll outline a sequence of lecture and exercises for a full-day session, develop an evaluation form, and present the opening minutes of your completed workshop. Topics include developing ideas and activities, researching what you need to fill in your own knowledge gaps, public speaking and class management techniques, and finding your “trainer style.” This workshop is for anyone at any stage of their career. No previous public speaking or lecture experience required.
